What is a Nature Encounter / Outdoor Encounter?

A nature encounter or outdoor encounter is simply the act of having sex outside of a dwelling. Whether in a car (parked, please!), a wood, a field, a deserted beach… It’s a return to basics, ass in the open air. It’s often the plan for those who cannot host at home (roommate, parents, partner present at home), but it’s also a real fantasy for many. Very often mixed with an exhibitionist desire, it is even more common for sexual partners who cannot host at home due to a roommate, parents, or their partner being present at home.

Why is a Nature Encounter appreciated?

The main driver of a nature encounter is the thrill of the forbidden, the risk of being caught. Having sex outdoors is playing with fire, it’s feeling alive and transgressive. Rather practical for those who cannot host, it nevertheless offers a certain extra spice: the pleasure of being in the open air, being able to observe nature, and also being surprised! No need to host, no need to clean before or after. It’s the nomadic hookup par excellence, quick and efficient. Having sex with the sound of waves, the smell of the forest, or under a starry sky is still much better than the faded wallpaper of a maid’s room.

What are the distinctions to know?

A nature encounter should not be confused with an outdoor encounter, which can be practiced in sex shops or clubs and nightclubs with backrooms. A nature encounter is in… nature. An outdoor encounter is broader. It can be a nature encounter, but also an encounter in a public place like a sex shop, a sauna, a club backroom. The nuance is subtle, but it exists.

A nature encounter should also not be confused with “natural sex,” which refers to not wanting to wear condoms (this being for some the most natural practice of sex). Be careful not to misunderstand. A nature encounter is about the location. “Natural sex” is about having sex without a condom (bareback). One can very well have a nature encounter with a condom, and “natural sex” in a cozy bed.

What does the law say about Outdoor Sex?

But what does the law say? The penalty for being caught having sex in a public place is one year imprisonment and a €15,000 fine, as it is sexual exhibitionism. We cannot therefore encourage you to practice outdoor sex in public places, as this is illegal, but a nature encounter remains possible if the “outdoor” location is private property that belongs to you and where no one can see you! Be careful to understand that even at home, being seen naked from the outside is also considered exhibitionism, and you are therefore also liable to a fine and imprisonment…
