What is an Ownership Mark (Marque de Propriété)?

An ownership mark is a physical and often permanent symbol intended to signify a power and possession relationship between a dominant and a submissive. Much more than a simple accessory, it is a deep commitment, a visual declaration of the relationship’s dynamic. These marks can take several forms, ranging from personalized tattoos and branding, which leave a permanent scar, to less permanent forms such as specific piercings or body jewelry that can only be removed by the dominant. The choice of the mark and its placement on the body are highly symbolic, often discussed and consented to, but ultimately representing the dominant’s authority. A mark on the neck or collarbone is a public declaration, while a mark on the hip, buttock, or near the genitals can be an intimate secret, a constant reminder for the submissive of their place, even when alone.

Example of an Ownership Mark: The Tattoo

And to put you in the situation, do you hear the tattoo machine buzzing? A clinical sound that violently contrasts with the tension in the room. You are lying on your stomach, your lower back exposed. He drew the symbol himself: an intertwining of abstract lines that is his signature, his seal. “This will never fade,” he says, his voice neutral, which makes it even more meaningful. “Every time you look in a mirror, every time someone lays eyes on you, they will see that you are mine. Your body is my canvas.” The needle pricks your skin, a sharp, vibrating pain that spreads along your spine. You clench your teeth, focusing on the pain, transforming it into an anchor point. It is a ritual, a ceremony of blood and ink. He does not touch you otherwise, he concentrates on his work, precise, meticulous. It is a form of cold, detached intimacy.

When he finishes, the skin around the tattoo is red and swollen. He cleans the area with an almost clinical gentleness. “Now, the seal must be consecrated,” he says. He turns you onto your back, and without a word, he pushes your legs back, exposing your hole. There is no caress, no preparation. He enters you dry, a brutal and direct act of possession. The pain of the fresh tattoo is eclipsed by the sensation of forced fullness. He kisses you hard, his hips slamming against yours, his gaze fixed on the fresh tattoo just above. He does not kiss your body, he kisses his mark, he imprints his ownership into every fiber of your being. When he empties himself into you, it is a final affirmation of his right. He leaves you there, marked, filled, your body sore and your mind empty. You are his.
